“The Museum, founded in 1982, is located in the seventeenth-century ducal palace of Tuglie and preserves in 16 rooms a substantial collection of evidence of peasant civilization from the 17th century to the Second World War. Tools used by peasants, carpenters, coopers, blacksmiths, farriers, carpenters, daily use objects and children’s toys are on display. Several rooms have been furnished respecting their original purpose: pots, dishes and various containers in a monumental cast iron kitchen; instruments used for weaving and a 18th-century loom in the bedroom, and similarly for the wine press, laundry and private chapel.
The feature that makes the Tuglie Museum surprising and evocative, although it is set right in the historic center, among a maze of alleys, winding streets and courtyards, dominating the main square of the village, is the immediate countryside. It actually has 10,000 sq.m. of green spaces, where visitors can see: orchards, biopark, medieval rock settlement, viewpoint and botanical garden.
