“The Museum, founded in 1982, is located in the seventeenth-century ducal palace of Tuglie and houses in 16 rooms a significant collection of evidence of peasant civilization from the 17th century to the Second World War. Displayed are the tools of the peasant, carpenter, cooper, blacksmith, farrier, carpenter, everyday objects and children’s games. Several rooms have been furnished respecting the original purpose: pots, dishes and various containers in a monumental cast iron kitchen; the tools used for weaving and a 1700s loom in the bedroom and similarly for the wine press, laundry, and private chapel.
The feature that makes the Tuglie Museum surprising and evocative, which although nestled right in the historic center, among a maze of alleys, winding streets and courtyards, dominating the main square of the town, is the immediate countryside. It has in fact 10,000 sq.m. of green spaces, where you can visit: orchards, biopark, medieval rock settlement, viewpoint and botanical garden.
