The museum is located within the archaeological park of the Roman amphitheater, built in the area that until twenty years ago hosted the municipal stadium. The new institution, inaugurated on November 1, 20011, displays archaeological materials and documents useful for reconstructing the birth and development of the city of Chieti.
The building, with discreet and modern architecture, constitutes in the heart of the old city a stimulus for urban redevelopment and an opportunity for cultural development.
The exhibition enhances the displayed material through multimedia stations and highly effective educational panels; the exhibition rooms are characterized by a modern concept layout.
Thanks to a refined use of sounds and music, projected images and lights, reconstructions, the La Civitella Museum offers the visitor a unique, suggestive and unforgettable experience, engaging body and mind at the same time.
The scientific path proposes three different modes of approach that can be developed in a single visit:
The beginning of urban history From Rome to Yesterday
The Land of the Marrucini
