“La Pinacoteca Comunale ’’P. Finoglio’’ is located in the Castle of Conversano, the ancient residence of the Counts Acquaviva d’Aragona. It is housed in the premises of the Ancient Gallery of the Counts Acquaviva, built between the end of the 1400s and the beginning of the 1500s and restored in December 1999. The restoration allowed both an effective reading of the architectural space in its original characteristics and the recovery of the interesting sculptures embedded in the masonry below the lunettes. The beautiful sculpted corbels, chronologically referable to the early decades of the sixteenth century, document a typically classical taste and strongly recall the decorative apparatus of the illuminated manuscripts of Count Andrea Matteo Acquaviva (1481-1528). The premises of the Pinacoteca include an antechamber, a representative hall, and a small room.”
