Castle Runkel dates back to the 13th century. In addition to the famous cycle of secular frescoes dating back to the Middle Ages, objects from the old armory, a gallery of castle images, and parts of frescoes and architectural elements are on display. The eastern palace periodically hosts temporary exhibitions.
