La art gallery is located in the Palazzo Pianetti, a significant example of an 18th-century aristocratic residence designed by Domenico Luigi Valeri and partly inspired by Austro-Bavarian models. On the main floor, it features a rococo gallery with colored stuccoes and rooms decorated by Placido Lazzarini with Stories of Aeneas. In the collection of ancient art, which includes works from religious congregations suppressed in 1867, stand out the paintings executed by Lorenzo Lotto for the churches and confraternities of Jesi, from the youthful Deposition (1512) to the mature works such as the Madonna with Child and Saints Joseph and Jerome (1526) and the monumental altarpiece with the Stories of Saint Lucy (1532). Important are also the works of Nicola di Maestro Antonio da Ancona (Dead Christ in the sarcophagus supported by two angels), Giuliano Presutti, Pietro Paolo Agabiti (Madonna with Child on throne and Saints John the Baptist and Anthony of Padua), Raffaellino del Colle (Madonna of Loreto among Saints Philip and James) and the canvas by Cristoforo Roncalli called il Pomarancio, the Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist. The contemporary art section was established in 1938 and includes drawings, prints, and paintings by Orfeo Tamburi, Ennio Morlotti, Virgilio Guidi, and others
