II funerary monuments of the necropolis in the Cappella area are part of a complex of hypogeal tombs arranged along the ancient road that connected the municipium of Misenum with the city of Cuma. The uncovered section includes at least seven buildings arranged in a single architectural façade with an East/West orientation along the edge of the road. The oldest monument, located on the eastern edge, has a different orientation compared to the others and is dated to the late Republican period. The others, instead attributable to the 1st century AD, have a quadrangular plan with a barrel vault; inside, the central wall facing the entrance is decorated with a niche topped by a pediment, while the side walls are divided by niches. Another more complex mausoleum, designed to contain a larger number of buried individuals, stands isolated behind the monumental façade of the buildings, with a completely hypogeal structure and multi-level tombs inside the funerary chamber.
