The museum was established in 1961 to collect materials from excavations conducted in the Ragusa area. The exhibition path, consisting of six sections, follows chronologically the various historical phases evidenced in the territory from the oldest prehistoric sites (especially from the archaic and classical necropolises of Camarina) to the Hellenistic centers and Roman and late Roman settlements (mostly statues, ceramics, inscriptions, glass)
