Starting from the town of Andermatt, take the Furka Road 19 (opened in 1866), which climbs the wooded slopes of the Urseren valley, opening breathtaking views of the Furkareuss valley and culminating at the Pass (2431 meters), which leads directly into Valais.
On clear days, the view of the Alps and the Rhône Valley is superb. During the fast descent, you pass by the Rhonegletscher, the impressive Rhône glacier, at the foot of which lies the renowned tourist and ski resort of Gletsch (1760 meters).
The Three Passes Tour in Switzerland then continues on the Grimsel Strasse (no. 6), which connects the Furka with the Upper Rhône Valley and the Bernese Oberland. After passing the suggestive and solitary lake Totensee at an altitude of 2144 meters, you reach the Grimsel Pass (2165 meters), which opens the doors to the canton of Bern. The descent is quite fast and offers lunar-like environments, stirred by artificial lakes such as Grimselsee and Raterichsbodensee. Upon reaching the village of Innertkirchen, leave road 6 to continue on 11, which leads to the third pass, the Susten, at an altitude of 2224 meters.
