Starting from the imposing Bourbon Fortress, the last to fall in 1861 under the blows of Italy’s unification, which runs along a rocky ridge for more than 500 meters in length and is considered one of the most important military engineering works in our country, as well as the largest in Europe by area (25,000 sqm). In addition to the three magnificent parade grounds, notable interest is held by the San Giacomo Bastion, the Governor’s Palace, and the Museum, inside which are displayed weapons, banners, ancient maps, and military uniforms.
