Adagiata sulle rive della Moldava (Vltava in ceco), Praga è una città magica, custode di magnifici monumenti storici dichiarati dall’UNESCO patrimonio dell’umanità. I mercatini di Natale a Praga, rappresentano un vero evento.
Le preziose architetture, dal gotico al liberty fino al modernismo, ne fanno una delle più belle città d’Europa. A Třebechovice pod Orebem, in Moravia settentrionale, si trova il Museo dei presepi che ospita scene della natività provenienti da diverse regioni della Repubblica Ceca e della Slovacchia. Il pezzo più interessante è la natività di Třebechovice, un presepe meccanico e in legno, antico di oltre un secolo.
Un altro pezzo unico si trova nel Museo di presepi di Karlštejn, ai piedi dell’omonimo castello gotico a circa 25 km da Praga. Tra le circa 50 scene della natività spicca il più grande presepe al mondo con figure mobili. Disposti su oltre 80 m2, i 46 personaggi sono di legno intagliato a mano. All’occhio attento non sfuggiranno personaggi storici, come S. Venceslao e Carlo IV.

Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí)

This is the cutest market. Small stalls are nestled around the statue of Jan Hus and surrounded by centuries of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The market is dominated by a Christmas tree adorned with hundreds of lights that are turned on every evening at sunset (usually around 5 PM). A stage is set up every year where Christmas concerts and short outdoor plays are organized.
Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)

One of the largest Christmas markets in the center of Prague. Located in the lower part of Wenceslas Square, it is often dominated by an artificial Christmas tree.
