The archaeological excavations carried out in the 1970s and 1980s in the hilly area called Regione Consolata uncovered the structures of a villa, that is, a suburban building used for residence and for agricultural activities linked to the surrounding farm. Located in an area already inhabited before the foundation of Augusta Prætoria (25 B.C.), near a branch of the ancient road towards the Gran San Bernardo pass, the villa has a rectangular floor plan centered around an open atrium equipped with a tank for collecting rainwater. Around it are arranged the residential spaces reserved for the dominus and his guests: the large reception hall, the dining room, two small bedrooms, and a thermal complex. In the northern part are the kitchen and service rooms, intended for the storage and processing of agricultural products.
