The Fashion and Applied Arts Museum of Gorizia occupies the first floor of the Dornberg and Tasso Houses and also includes sections on silk production and processing, as well as jewelry. The route winds through rooms that recreate crafts related to clothing (cobbler’s workshop, hatter’s shop, and tailor’s shop).
The section dedicated to the artisanal production of glass and ceramics dating back to the 18th century is rich, with the exhibition, among other things, of containers from ancient pharmacies and locally produced 19th-century wrought iron.
Among the most precious decorations of the garment is bobbin lace, which in the Gorizia area boasts a tradition dating back to 1672.
The collections of clothing cover a time span from the 18th to the 20th century, with particular attention to the period from 1890 to the First World War; various garments worn throughout the day and on special occasions are exhibited.
Noteworthy are the collections of gloves and handbags from the 18th century to 1925.
