An year that will go down in history as “disastrous” for global tourism. The airline Volotea issued a statement with the numbers for 2020.

Following the health crisis and the trend recorded by the aviation sector (with an 80% decline in revenue), Volotea achieved satisfactory results in 2020, especially in the third quarter when the company’s operational capacity, compared to the previous year, was 83%. With an offer of over 290 routes, Volotea managed to ensure strong connectivity within its network, while adapting it with a particular focus on domestic routes.

This strategic adaptation allowed the airline to transport 3.8 million passengers during the year, with a load factor of 90.7%. Additionally, Volotea increased its on-time performance rate by 14.6 points (OTP15 of 91.7%) and achieved a customer recommendation level exceeding 90%.

Last year, the airline’s strategy was to quickly redefine its network, mainly focusing on domestic offerings (accounting for 86% of its connections) in all countries where it operates. This flexible strategy, combined with the best operational standards, enabled Volotea to achieve very satisfactory results in terms of load factor, punctuality, and recommendation rate.
