Vinitaly off-site events
A starting from Friday, April 8th, the off-site event Vinitaly and the City takes place. For four evenings, starting at 7:00 PM (expected for the inauguration), in the Loggia of Fra’ Giocondo, in Piazza dei Signori in Verona, enthusiasts can admire and taste shows and events specifically set up.
Opera Wine
At the Gran Guardia in Verona, Saturday, April 9th, is held Opera Wine. On this occasion, you can taste products from one hundred Italian producers selected by Wine Spectator, the most important American industry magazine. At 11:30 AM, the presentation press conference is scheduled, while at 2:45 PM, the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina, will participate in the opening of Opera Wine, along with Veronafiere officials and the mayor of Verona, Flavio Tosi. Access to the event is by invitation.
Vinitaly opening
Sunday, April 10th, the 50th Vinitaly starts in the VeronaFiere exhibition area. For the first time in its history, the event is inaugurated by a President of the Republic. Sergio Mattarella will indeed be present at the inaugural ceremony at 11 AM in the Verdi auditorium of the Europe Congress Center of VeronaFiere. Attending are the president of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese, the mayor of Verona, Flavio Tosi, the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, and the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina.
Vinitaly program
Monday, April 11th, the Sol&Agrifood international quality agri-food exhibition opens, held concurrently with Vinitaly and Enolitech, a showcase dedicated to technologies for viticulture, enology, and olive growing. The ceremony begins at 10:30 AM in the Agorà area of Pavilion C. Following, at 10:40 AM, in the multifunctional hall of the Sol&Agrifood pavilion, the conference “Agropiracy: when Italy knows how to defend itself” takes place. Participants include the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina, and the vice president of the parliamentary commission investigating counterfeiting phenomena, Colomba Mongiello.
Also on Monday, April 11th, in the afternoon (time yet to be scheduled), a visit by the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, is expected, who will meet with Jack Ma – founder of the Chinese e-commerce platform Alibaba – in the Verdi auditorium to discuss the digital challenges facing the wine industry.
The event concludes on Wednesday April 13th with the Forum of agricultural ministers from 16 European wine-producing countries, convened at Vinitaly by the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina. The assembly’s opening is scheduled for 10:15 AM at the Veronafiere offices. Representatives from Italy, France, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, and Hungary are expected.
