“If we want to grow the Italian market and move beyond offering the classic American destinations, never leaving the “comfort zone” and never exploring new frontiers, it’s time to unite efforts to increase agents’ knowledge. Especially to excite them about new travel experiences, the taste of freedom and the vastness of the north-west American landscape, and the great wild nature; offering them new ideas, proposals, and a different way to experience vacations in the United States.”
This is what Olga Mazzoni of Thema Nuovi Mondi states, who has represented the regional consortium in Italy since the early 1980s when it was called RealAmerica and has now registered the new brand, The Great American West.
An increasing number of Italian travelers want to explore new U.S. regions and venture along less traveled, more authentic, and still under-explored routes; mainly, they want to discover genuine American lifestyles, those showcased in major documentaries by National Geographic or famous Hollywood movies.
The Great American West
With this operation, The Great American West breaks the mold and involves the trade to redefine travel routes for summer and winter. It’s a challenge that increasingly brings Italian travelers closer to the great National Parks of Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier, Badlands, and Theodore Roosevelt. It’s the discovery of the “dark skies” of Idaho and the charm of lunar landscapes at Craters of the Moon. It’s also the old western world of Buffalo Bill, Calamity Jayne, the House in the Prairie, and the unchallenged myth of films like Balla coi Lupi and Fargo. A region so vast that it provides space for everyone, but especially many lesser-known and underused places to satisfy curious travelers.
