Petra Hedorfer confirmed as CEO of the German National Tourist Board until 2031

Petra Hedorfer has been reappointed for a five-year term at the helm of the German National Tourist Board, consolidating a leadership that has transformed Germany into a prominent global tourism brand.

The Board of Directors of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has officially reconfirmed Petra Hedorfer as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) until October 31, 2031. This decision underscores the commitment to ensuring continuity and strengthening Germany’s international leadership in the global tourism sector.

With over twenty years of experience in the role, Petra Hedorfer has led the GNTB through a significant transformation, evolving from a traditional marketing organization into a pioneering entity in international tourism. Under her leadership, the GNTB has developed innovative strategies, focusing on in-depth market analysis, digitalization, and opening up to emerging markets, particularly in Southeastern Europe and Asia.

Brigitte Goertz-Meissner, Chairwoman of the GNTB Board of Directors, highlighted that Hedorfer is globally recognized for her strategic clarity and leadership abilities, essential elements for addressing current geopolitical challenges and maintaining Germany’s long-term competitiveness.

Petra Hedorfer’s career began after studies in economics and social sciences, with experience in retail and cultural management. Since 1998, she has held key roles in GNTB’s global marketing, becoming Chief Marketing Officer in 2000 and CEO in 2003. During her tenure, she has promoted digital transformation and consistently supported the development of a tourist destination focused on quality, service, and sustainability.

The GNTB, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, operates with the goal of strengthening Germany’s image as an international tourist destination, collaborating with the tourism industry, the private sector, and trade associations. Its headquarters are located in Frankfurt am Main, with 19 representative offices abroad.
