The Blue Flag award for Maratea (Santa Teresa/Calaficarra, Macarro/Illicini/Nera, Castrocucco/Secca di Castrocucco, Acquafredda) strengthens the projects of tourism operators aimed at focusing on “green” and “safety” as the mid-May reopening approaches.

The president of the Maratea Tourist Consortium, Biagio Salerno, expresses his satisfaction, stating that “environmental quality and health safety are the main cards we intend to play to save the upcoming season and beyond. We hoteliers and owners of hospitality, catering, commerce, and services businesses are ready to open our structures and activities in Maratea from mid-May. However, “continues Salerno, “what is mainly needed is the acceleration of the vaccination campaign, together with tourist tracking measures.”

Maratea operators continue their efforts to support activities and hospitality, and especially, to promote campaigns in interregional and national markets with responsibilities entrusted to Consortia and category associations.

The Department of Production Activities of the Basilicata Region, represented by Councilor Francesco Cupparo,” concludes President Salerno, “has shown great commitment in favor of tourism businesses. Together with the entire industry, a Tourism Revival Plan for Basilicata has been prepared for the first time, featuring innovative aspects and a budget of 4.5 million euros invested in three phases. We hope this will act as a catalyst for the revival needed for the entire Maratea coast and all Basilicata tourism, which was experiencing strong growth before the pandemic.
