With the summer season American Airlines strengthens the network prioritizing passenger safety. From May 8th, passengers traveling on American Airlines operated flights from New York (JFK) to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) will be able to avoid the quarantine period.

Before departure

Before departure, passengers must prove they have a negative COVID-19 test. Based on current Italian regulations, arriving passengers in Rome will undergo a further rapid test at the airport and, if negative, will avoid quarantine, thus optimizing their time in Italy.

American will operate a flight three times a week from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to New York John F. Kennedy (JFK), after a year of suspension, with Boeing 777-200 aircraft offering passengers three travel experiences: Flagship Business, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin.

“We look forward to welcoming our passengers from Rome on board as soon as they are ready to fly again,” said Tom Lattig, Vice President EMEA Sales of American Airlines.

“American is committed to reopening transatlantic flights safely and works closely with local and international authorities to establish appropriate travel protocols. We are also very grateful for the support received from Aeroporti di Roma for the incredible safety measures put in place on the ground, complementing and completing our in-flight efforts,” continued Tom Lattig.

“We are pleased with the upcoming departure of American Airlines’ Covid Tested flights between New York and Rome Fiumicino,” declared Ivan Bassato, Operations Director of Aeroporti di Roma. “The new travel procedure, proposed by Aeroporti di Roma, is a valuable tool to support the recovery of air traffic safely, and we hope it will soon be adopted by other airports and airlines.”

From Rome Fiumicino (FCO), American also operates the flight to Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) with Boeing 787-800 aircraft offering travelers three travel experiences: Flagship Business, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin. Quarantine measures are still in place for this route.

Clean Commitment

The excellent measures aimed at protecting health and safety implemented by American have been recognized with the STAR certification from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council for the entire fleet and for the Admirals Club lounges.

The American Clean Commitment is designed to take care of passengers and staff by implementing innovative cleaning and sanitation techniques, in collaboration with leading institutions in the field of safety and health procedures.

American Airlines recommends that passengers check, before departure, travel restrictions and international entry conditions and local government requirements.
