Book&Go is now in its 4th edition at TTG in Rimini. It is a project dedicated to travel publishing that brings together the voices of 12 authors, selected from over 120 candidates.
I boundaries of vacation time expand, new decision-making factors influence the choice of destinations, and demand broadens into a much wider spectrum of needs. The trip frees itself from limitations to become «without constraints». This is the path indicated by TTG Travel Experience 2022, an event by Italian Exhibition Group returning from October 12 to 14 at the Rimini Trade Fair. Concurrently with TTG, SIA Hospitality Design will be held, Italy’s most comprehensive showcase for the hospitality sector with its extensive exhibition offerings related to design, contract, and services, which this year expands into the open-air tourism supply chain , and SUN Beach&Outdoor Style, which brings the world of seaside tourism to the fair.
This year, Italy’s most important tourism marketplace aims to represent a sector capable of expanding its horizons and borders, overcoming the traditional concept of vacation through the choice of destinations that offer new stimuli. This is the meaning of «Unbound», the theme of the 59th edition of TTG Travel Experience, represented with the image of a pulsating, dynamic, fluid sphere, reflecting the landscape around it.
This concept will be the red thread of the “Think Future” event schedule, with a rich program of talks, training sessions, and special projects. Among these, Book&Go: now in its 4th edition, this project dedicated to travel publishing brings together voices from 12 authors, selected from over 120 candidates. Recent titles or even previews from major publishers and self-published books are placed on the same shelf: that of free inspiration. Industry professionals find in this space new tools for storytelling the product.
From tips on tuning into Generation Z, narrated in “Around Italy Not a typical guidebook” (Pyrgos Books, 2022), a guide in which Laurentia and Federico Arengi Bentivoglio – two young Italian-American twins – help tourism operators understand what GenZ travelers want to do and see, to exploring new inclusive and gender-fluid trips, as discussed in Stefano Ferri’s autobiography “Crossdresser. Stefano and Stefania, the two parts of me” (Ugo Mursia Editore). Also, ‘Libere Uscite. Ideas for Women on the Run’ by Simona Martinotti (self-published, 2021) fits into this theme, recounting the experience of a solo traveler ready to blend into the places she visits.
Traveling also means discovering new things about oneself and one’s roots, as recounted by Sonia Ferrara and Tiziana Nicòtera in the ‘First Report on Roots Tourism in Italy’ (Egea, 2021), Alberto Cancian in ‘Gioia’s Journey’ (self-published, 2022), and Winki in ‘The Angel’s Path in Times of Corona’ (self-published).
New ways of storytelling about tourist destinations will be explored by photographer Francesco Salvaggio, who will explain how to elevate the photographic image to a narrative medium often unexpressed, and by Giulia Alonzo and Oliviero Ponte di Pino, in their book ‘On the Move for Festivals. A Nomadic Guide to Cultural Events’ (Altreconomia, 2022). Then, passions are explored through ‘Tourist Visions: Marketing, Culture, and Trends’ by Debora Calomino (Contamina, 2022), and ‘Economy of Relationships. 17 Interpretations and Case Histories for a New Tourism’ (Erga Edizioni, 2022) by Liana Pastorin and Andrea Cerrato.
Book&Go also features unusual tourist sites, such as in Giuseppe Ortolano’s book, ‘Guide to Italian Mines. 90 Tourist Sites to Discover’ (Morelli Editore, 2021), leading into caves, spread-out hotels, and natural deposits in ancient mines and villages formerly inhabited by miners, as well as in Elisabetta Frega’s book, ‘The Moon Smiles at Damascus. A Journey into the Syria that Was’ (Alpine Studio Editore, 2021), a handbook for operators wishing to contribute to the economic revival of places just emerging from wars and conflicts to accelerate their return to normality.
