Il Sentiero Frassati della Basilicata is located in the territory of Sasso di Castalda (PZ), a small Lucanian village at the foot of the Apennines. The hiking trail is 22 kilometers long and consists of a 14-kilometer loop and a 4-kilometer connector to the historic center. The path was recreated thanks to the historical memory of the inhabitants of the village who used it to collect and transport wood, produce charcoal, grind wheat, and cultivate the fields.
The walk of the Sentiero Frassati della Basilicata is accessible to everyone; in fact, it is possible to reach some points of the route by car, even for short excursions of a few kilometers. Instead, for those who decide to do the complete route, the first mandatory stop is a visit to the historic center of Sasso di Castalda, then continue towards the Oasi del Cervo and embark on the Via del grano.
Along the walk of the Sentiero Frassati della Basilicata, you will find yourself admiring typical farmhouses of the Lucanian countryside and wonderful specimens of beech located in the Costara forest. The green typical of this area of Basilicata will accompany you along almost the entire route.
