The small church with simple and clean shapes externally features inside a single room, ending at the back with a presbytery where the sarcophagus of Enrico Scrovegni, work of Andriolo de Santi, is located, and on the altar a Madonna with child, work of the 14th-century sculptor Giovanni Pisano. The chapel consists of a single room measuring 20.5 x 8.5 m and 18.5 m in height with a barrel vault ceiling. The interior was frescoed by Giotto with the stories of Mary’s parents, Joachim and Anna, with the Stories of the Virgin and Jesus, and on the counterfaçade with the Last Judgment narrated in the Apocalypse. In addition, fourteen monochrome allegories of Vices and Virtues are created on the high perimeter socle. The entire decoration is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of art of all time.
