Immersed in a holm oak forest, on the border between Barbagia and Ogliastra, the Sa Carcaredda complex includes a nuragic building used for worship, a large village, and four giant tombs. The religiosity of the nuragic people is illustrated by monuments that refer to the cult of ancestors and the rites linked to the deity of waters.
The extraordinary finds discovered inside the circular temple highlight the cultic and commercial centrality that mountain sites had during the Bronze Age in Sardinia.
