“Il Museo del territorio ’’Casa Pezzolla’’ takes its name from Dr. Giacomo Pezzolla, who lived in the second half of the 18th century and was the personal physician of the Acquaviva d’Aragona counts. The complex represents a tangible example of an evolving architectural culture. In this group of buildings, two types of structures stand out: one, more recent, develops over two floors, with a tall and narrow facade topped by a triangular pediment; the other, representing the oldest part, consists of simple and small structures, mostly single-cell, equipped with characteristic elements typical of trullo construction. Contrary to the more modern part, in these areas the walls are made of irregular stones placed randomly. In 1986, the complex was purchased by the Municipality of Alberobello and, between 1993 and 1997, it was restored and returned to its original state. The Museo del Territorio ’’Casa Pezzolla’’ is the only complex made up of 15 communicating trulli protected by UNESCO.”
