If you were thinking of organizing a coast-to-coast vacation in Sardinia with your family, then it is important to know that thanks to the service offered by some traghetti Sardegna companies, it is possible to board your camper from various cities in Italy.
Discovering Sardinia from Cagliari to Villasimius
Our advice is to start the itinerary from Cagliari so that you can head towards Villasimius on the first day itself, following the wonderful southern coast of Sardinia. In this section, we recommend taking the roads along the sea and enjoying the view offered by the Poetto beach.
Immediately after this sight, the route connecting Villasimius to Costa Rei begins. Our advice is to stop and have lunch with the camper near Cala Regina or in the small inlet of Mare Pintau, which will offer breathtaking views.
After a few kilometers, you arrive in Villasimius where you can relax on the beaches of Notteri, Simius, and Porto Giunco.
The locality of Porto Giunco is also one of the most scenic as, besides the crystal-clear sea, it features a wonderful lagoon behind the beach. We recommend spending the night in Villasimius to take advantage of the lively atmosphere the town offers, especially on summer nights.
From Costa Rei to Nora and Chia
On the early morning of the second day of the trip, crossing Capo Carbonara, continue northward, towards the beaches of Costa Rei. Famous for being very long beaches with crystal-clear waters and very white sand.
The first beach encountered on this route is Cala Sinzias, continuing along the itinerary a few kilometers further you also find the wild bays of Monte Nai and Piscina Rei. But if you are looking for tranquility we recommend continuing north, near the Colostrai pond, close to Muravera where it is also possible to stay overnight with the camper.

The third day of travel will be towards Nora and the beaches of Chia to say goodbye to the southern coast of Sardinia and head west. You can take the same coast-to-coast road on the way back or follow our advice and take the highway.
Once past Cagliari, continue towards Pula to visit the archaeological site of Nora. Then continuing north you reach Bithia, today known as Chia, which offers a beautiful and very long sandy coastline and overnight near the namesake tower of the place. The next day, wake up early to head towards Capo Spartivento.
Su Giudeu and the city of the sun
Su Giudeu is characterized by a long sandy stretch, it is also known as the freshwater beach. Together with Porto Campana they create the formation of the Spartivento dunes.
By this point it will surely be the last day to visit Sardinia, but on the way back to Cagliari you can pass through some wild and pristine places of Teulada and Domus De Maria. Once you arrive at Cagliari, based on the time you have available you can decide whether or not to visit the city.
