Il Kruger Park is a natural jewel spanning over 20,000 sq km (roughly the size of Veneto or Lombardy), featuring savannahs, perennial watercourses, low hills, endless thickets (acacias, marulas, mopanes, wild willows, baobabs), home to an impressive number of animal species, continuously increasing. It is the flagship not only of South African parks but also of the entire continent.

Naturalists and rangers have recorded in recent years around 147 species of mammals (including those South Africans call the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo); 500 bird species and 114 reptiles. And it should not be forgotten that the Kruger is connected to a series of smaller natural areas, bringing the total protected area to 35,000 sq km.

The Kruger National Park is characterized by a subtropical climate, with hot and humid summers and temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius, with rainfall concentrated in the summer. Despite its size, the South African National Park is very easy to visit, thanks to a network of over 2200 km of paved roads and dirt tracks, well maintained and signposted.

Certainly, during a safari in South Africa, it is difficult to be so lucky as to admire all those animal species in a single safari that one would like, starting with the Big Five, but with a little patience and, above all, repeated visits, it is possible to bring home a nice collection of photos, images, and exciting memories.
