Constructed in 1905 by Mayor Bonanno, who gave it its name, Villa Bonanno is a magnificent public garden always open, located in Piazza della Vittoria, behind the Palazzo dei Normanni.
In the garden – planted as a palm grove – statues and busts of illustrious Palermitan figures can be seen. Also in the garden, remains of Roman patrician houses with mosaics were found: notable are the mosaics of the seasons and Orpheus, now preserved at the National Archaeological Museum.
Adjacent to the villa stands the fountain with the monument to Filippo V, a nineteenth-century work by Nunzio Morello. It seems that the fountain was designed in 1661 by Carlo d’Aprile, with the participation of the Serpotta family.
