The blessed Antonio Rosmini-Serbati, priest, philosopher, writer, and founder of the Institute of Charity was born in Rovereto on March 24, 1797, and died in Stresa on July 1, 1855. The birthplace, inhabited by the Rosminian Fathers, has now become a Museum. The villa, originally sixteenth-century in origin, was expanded in the second half of the 19th century by the initiative of Francesco Paoli. Inside, original furniture, majolica stoves, late eighteenth-century stuccoes, archival and library collections, collections of prints and drawings, and an interesting art gallery with works of sacred and secular nature and portraits of the philosopher and his ancestors are preserved. On the ground floor, the Rosminian Library, established in 1985, has found its home. On the first floor are the hall of mirrors, the balcony room, the lounge, the piano room, the chapel frescoed in 1781, and the family library arranged on a special wooden shelving, made in the rooms of Antonio’s parents. On the second floor, we discover the birth room, which houses relics and personal effects belonging to the blessed.
