The materials on display in the Antiquarium of Lucrezia Romana in Rome come from the preventive archaeological investigations carried out in the former Municipio X (now part of VII) over the past twenty-five years, mostly from the lands on the sides of the ancient Via Latina and its oldest natural course, known by the modern name of Via Castrimeniense.

Presences dating back to prehistoric times have been revealed:

  • copper age necropolises (3rd millennium BC);
  • bronze age settlements (2nd millennium BC);
  • necropolises related to the Latin Civilization (11th – 6th century BC);
  • evidence of agricultural reclamation arrangements of the republican era;
  • furnishings of chamber tombs from the middle republican age (late 4th early 3rd century BC), attributable to family burials.

From villas, buildings and tombs of the late republican age and the early imperial age come various marble sculptures. Most of the material from the imperial age comes from the necropolises. The study of the burial goods deposited in the tombs introduces us to private Roman life, allowing us to understand specialized craftsmanship through the objects offered: vases, oil lamps, jewelry, work and female toilet materials, toys, providing information on fashion and customs.
