The establishment of the Paleontology Museum of the University of Calabria marks a particularly important moment and a strong commitment by the University towards the protection and enhancement of the immense natural heritage of the country. The museum, located on the 6th floor of Cube 14B, is arranged in an ideal path that begins at the dawn of life (about 3.5 billion years ago) and, through the main events that have shaped the history of the planet, arrives up to the present day. Among the most important pieces is the skeleton of a herbivorous dinosaur belonging to the species “Ouranosaurus Nigeriensis,” discovered in the Niger desert by an Italian-French team. Inside, spaces are provided for conducting interactive educational activities and for screening films, which help make the University Paleontology Museum a reference point for museum realities in the area.
