Not only in Finland, but also in Sweden, Santa Claus—known locally as “jultomten”—welcomes children and adults to his home at Santaworld (Tomteland), located 300 km from Stockholm in the Dalarna region. The park sits at the foot of Mount Gesundaberget, surrounded by forest.
At Santaworld, visitors can meet not just Santa Claus, but also elves, trolls, the dragon longing for the princess, the fairy tale fairy, the witch Kvastrid, the snow monster, Snowman Dusty, and the King and Queen of Winter.
Opening dates: 17-18/11, 23-25/11, 30/11-2/12, 7-9/12, 14-23/12, 25-31/12, 2-6/1 2008, 16/2, 23/2, and 1, 8, 15, 22, 29/3 (the park reopens for the summer season on June 20).
If you prefer not to rent a car, you can easily take the train to the town of Mora on Lake Siljan, just 15 km from Santaworld, and then travel by taxi in about 20 minutes. The landscapes and quaint villages around Lake Siljan are well worth exploring.
Alternatively, you can give the gift of a Santa Claus letter.
