Giosue Carducci, the famous Italian poet awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1906, was born in Valdicastello on July 27, 1835. The family’s home consists of the four rooms of the building located by the stream. The house-museum contains furnishings, memorabilia, and explanatory panels related to his life. Since 1907, the year of the Poet’s death, the Municipality of Pietrasanta has organized events and solemn commemorations. Notable conferences include “Carducci the Poet” in 1985, “Carducci the Politician” in 2005, “Carducci and Tuscany” in 2006 for the centenary of the Nobel Prize, and “Carducci the European” in 2007, marking 100 years since his death. Additionally, in 1950, the National Poetry Prize “Giosue Carducci” was established.
