A curious piece of news aimed at pet owners: Pet Airways, the first airline dedicated to transporting pets, is about to take off.
It is not an airline that also accepts animals, but exclusively them: onboard there will be no space for owners, the only people on the plane will be hostesses and pilots. The initially involved airports will be five, namely Washington, Chicago, New York, Denver, and Los Angeles but the management of Pet Airways announces that within a few years, the fleet will serve about twenty other airports across the United States.
Small four-legged friends will have access to a well-equipped waiting lounge on land, while onboard they will be placed in special illuminated and pressurized cabins, supervised by attentive and present hostesses. There will also be baskets for rest, in case of long journeys.
The most anxious owners can check the progress of the flight online using the “Track Your Pet” feature.
The prices of tickets for flights with Pet Airways start at around 100 euros but vary depending on the distance of the trip, as well as the size of the animal.
