Awarded the design of the new Passenger Terminal and other strategic works for Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport. Goal to open in 2024.
Proseguono i lavori di adeguamento dell’aeroporto di Salerno Costa D’Amalfi. La GESAC, che gestisce anche l’aeroporto di Napoli, ha fatto sapere con una nota stampa che è stata assegnata la progettazione del nuovo Terminal Passeggeri ed altre opere strategiche dell’Aeroporto di Salerno Costa d’Amalfi.

On January 19th, the activities of the Tender Commission for commissioning the Design of Phase 2 of the Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport were concluded, which involves, among other works, implementing the new Passenger Terminal, the second extension of the runway to 2200 meters, and parking and access areas to the airport.
Among the 13 participants, many of whom are international, the leading group was headed by the multinational company Deerns, which boasts extensive experience in airport design worldwide, and has also worked on enhancing airports in Schiphol, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait City.
As a confirmation of the project’s strategic importance, both national and international entities are involved in the group, with expertise ranging from architectural to mechanical design, with particular emphasis on environmental sustainability. The other members of the design team include Atelier Alfonso Femia, Techproject, Od’A – Architectural Workshop, and Sun Flower Engineering s.r.l. Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, stated: “The commissioning of the design activities is a further step in the challenging expansion program of Salerno Airport, for which Phase 1 of the Development Plan is already underway. Last week, GESAC signed the Legal Protocol with the Prefecture of Salerno, and starting February, expropriation activities for the areas needed for airport expansion will begin. The goal is to open the new airport in 2024.”
