After over two years of closure, Japan reopens its borders to individual travel for tourism purposes.
In recent months, Japan has adopted increasingly lenient health restrictions until a complete reopening to international tourists: from October 11, not only will travelers in organized groups be able to visit, but also individual tourists. Mandatory requirements remain: a vaccination certificate indicating the three doses administered or, alternatively, a negative COVID-19 test taken at least 72 hours before entering the country.
The Japanese economy has been severely affected by the pandemic and recent developments impacting the international landscape; however, the reopening will allow numerous foreign tourists to visit our country, leading to a revitalization of rural areas. This reopening represents a new beginning for Japan, and it is in this spirit that JNTO intends to strengthen its promotional activities as well as collaboration with all sector partners” commented Satoshi Seino, president of JNTO.
