La conoscenza del materiale strumentale, che caratterizzava la ricerca astronomica di questo Istituto nel secolo scorso, e’ di grande importanza per una ricostruzione storico-scientifica dell’attivita’ osservativa e di ricerca svolta dall’O.A.C.T., per gli studi riguardanti gli aspetti tecnici e teorici di tale strumentazione, per il livello di competenze e il ruolo svolto nello sviluppo delle conoscenze dai tecnici ottici e meccanici che progettarono e realizzarono telescopi astronomici e altri strumenti di osservazione e misura di alta qualita’.
The instruments have been restored and cataloged to enable systematic research, identification, and study. The historical-instrumental material, properly arranged and illustrated, completes the educational path and bears witness to the evolution of astronomy and astrophysics in this century, alongside the history of the “Vincenzo Cerulli” Astronomical Observatory, which continues to contribute successfully to the development of this ancient science and the technological advancement it requires. The museum collection is arranged in a small museum within the Observatory premises, where it can be admired through guided tours by the staff.
