Il Museo diocesano di Reggio Calabria is located on the ground floor of the late eighteenth-century wing of the Archbishop’s Palace, built on the ruins of a pre-existing building and erected next to the Cathedral at the end of the sixteenth century. The works, displayed in chronological order and within specific sections, are numerous; they mostly consist of silverware, many of which can be traced back to workshops in Messina and Naples, but also to local artists, including the famous Rayed Monstrance by Francesco Jerace, made in 1928 on the occasion of the Regional Eucharistic Congress held in Reggio Calabria; the collection includes a significant group of liturgical textiles of different manufacture and era; a room with paintings, among which is the Resurrection of Lazarus attributed to Francesco De Mura (third decade of the 18th century); eighteenth-century stone fragments from the altars of the ancient cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta, such as a pair of Angels from 1728, holding the Instruments of the Passion.
