Ospitated in Stellata at the house of Virginio, son of the poet Ludovico Ariosto, it collects over four hundred artifacts that offer a broad historical overview of human presence in the territory from the early centuries of the 4th millennium BC to the medieval and Renaissance periods. It begins with the Neolithic, evidenced by the development of the important village of Fornaci Grandi; follows the Bronze Age when the Bondenese is included in the expansion area of the Terramare civilization, which has in the settlement of Pilastri one of the main local strongholds, well represented in the museum by numerous materials, mostly ceramics. The Iron Age is illustrated by the Villanovan necropolis of Santa Maria Maddalena de’ Mosti, while the Roman age sees the territorial organization based on scattered rural settlements and the large imperial estates near the course of the Po. The documentation of the postclassical age refers to territorial control exercised by the Benedictine Monastery of Nonantola, the birth of the castrum Bondeni and the lordship of the Este family from the 15th century onwards.
