An entire day may be enough to discover the beauty of environments marked by mountain landscapes and coasts dotted with fishing villages with a naive charm.
A always useful recommendation is to leave early in the morning to avoid lines of tourist buses that regularly patrol the area.
Stops not to be missed are Killarney, with the splendid lakes. Killorglin, a charming village nestled on the banks of a river, famous for the Puck Fair, the annual traditional festival in August, culminating with the crowning of a goat. The Moll’s Gap, an incredible gorge that winds through peat bogs and mountains, revealing enchanting views. Caherciveen, the main town of the peninsula, home to a local history center. And the Staigue Fort, an Iron Age fort perched on a hill and built with dry stone. It is the best preserved in Ireland.
