Il Museo Speleologico delle Grotte di Castellana, inaugurated on January 23, 2000, on the 62nd anniversary of the discovery of the karst system, is dedicated to the Lodigian speleologist Franco Anelli (1899-1977) who was not only the discoverer of the Caves but also their promoter and passionate director. The Museum, housed in the building designed by architect Pietro Favia (1895-1972), besides being a useful opportunity for the curious tourist to deepen their knowledge, has for several years been the destination of growing school tourism – almost 6000 visits in the 2010-2011 school year – which through guided tours, educational workshops, and speleotouristic visits in the lateral branches of the Caves, represents one of the main novelties of the karst site in recent years.
