Situated in the heart of Corsica, the GR 20 is considered one of the most difficult treks in Europe. About 200 km long, the route is usually divided into two parts: GR South and GR North, the first more technical and challenging, the second easier, also accommodating less experienced trekkers.

GR 20 Stages

Characterized by 16 daily stages, the Gr 20 Corsica consists of a route that crosses diagonally the French island, with departure from Calenzana and arrival in Conca. A tough journey, not only because of the technical difficulties of the path, but also for the mountain climate, with sudden weather changes, strong wind, snow and fog that can make the route even more complicated.

The difficulties of the trek, however, will be rewarded by the varied and enchanting island landscape, along the trail you will admire imposing natural pinnacles, suggestive wind-smoothed craters, charming glacial lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. Moreover, you may encounter many animal species, including wild boars, foxes, golden eagles, black kites, Tyrrhenian lizards, Hermann’s salamanders and many other species.

Like every self-respecting trekking, the Corsica GR20 trekking, Sentier de grande randonnée 20 or also known by the Corsican name Fra li Monti, offers along the route many welcoming refuges that will give you the opportunity to relax in warmth and recover energy for the continuation of the journey.
