Robert-Louis Stevenson
It was 1878 when Robert-Louis Stevenson crossed, on foot and with a donkey, a stretch of Auvergne and the Cévennes, continuing southwards.
A journey lasting 12 days, for a total of 252 km, recounted in his personal diary. Precisely Stevenson’s diary, named “Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes,” made it possible to reconstruct what is now also known as the GR 70: a route about 250 km long and consisting of 14 main stages (following the writer’s route), which crosses the south-central part of France.
A cultural journey, situated between Auvergne and Languedoc-Roussillon, which represents a link between the Massif Central and the Cévennes mountain ranges.
