Archaeological area “Nuraghe Losa”, Abbasanta

The monumental complex is part of the basalt rock plateau of the Abbasanta area. It includes a central tower (keep) located at the center of a three-lobed bastion, equipped with a turreted antemural and an external wall that delimited the village. The central tower, built starting from the Middle Bronze Age (late XNUMXth - early XNUMXth century) and composed of three towers in the shape of an equilateral triangle, constitutes a wonderful example of megalithic architecture due to the particular care with which the lithic rows are arranged. The rest of the complex, dating back to the Recent Bronze Age (first half of the XNUMXth - end of the XNUMXth century BC), contains the settlement space of the original Nuragic village, which was subsequently continuously frequented starting from the late Punic age (end of the XNUMXth century BC) until the early medieval period. The phenomenon of the re-frequenting of nuragic complexes is moreover widely spread in reference to complex nuraghes, i.e. formed by the connection of several towers, such as the Losa nuraghe, which therefore also presents a particular historical interest from this point of view.
