What to see in Umbria

Green, lush and radiant, Umbria is one of the most popular tourist destinations for weekends, trips out of town and immersions in nature.

Divided into the provinces of Perugia e Terni,Umbria it is a land of spirituality, art, culture that are lost in the mists of time. Despite having no access to the sea, this region is rich in water, thanks to the rivers Tiber e Velino, swollen by numerous tributaries.

It is a city on a human scale and yet cosmopolitan, pleasant to admire thanks to the monuments found there: the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the Fontana maggiore, Walls of Perugia (Etruscan and medieval) and the majestic city buildings (Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo Gallenga Stuart, the Collegio del Cambio and others).

Just travel a few kilometers to immerse yourself in one of the most important pages of spirituality in Italy: ad Assisi It rises Basilica of San Francesco. Every year thousands of pilgrims reach these places of prayer but also of art, near Mount Subasio.

Also to Terni there is no shortage of tourist influx, due to the presence of archaeological remains but also to the devotion to Valentine's day, patron saint of the city and protector of lovers.

Other towns that are worth a visit are Norcia, Foligno, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto and, especially during the Christmas period, you absolutely must go and admire the enormous Gubbio Christmas treeformed by lights positioned on Mount Igino.

Another peculiar characteristic is the relationship with music which manifests itself in a big way during Umbria Jazz, an event that has taken place annually in Perugia since the 70s. For a full immersion in nature, you cannot miss the six regional natural parks in Umbria: Mount Cucco Park, Mount Subasio Park, Lake Trasimeno Park, Colfiorito Park, Tiber River Park and Nera River Park.
