Guide of Emilia Romagna

Enclosed in a triangular shape by the Po river to the north and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines to the south, Emilia Romagna inherits its name from the Roman Via Emilia which runs through the major cities of the region.

Administratively, Emilia-Romagna is divided into the provinces of Bologna, Parma, Ferrara, Modena, Piacenza,Ravenna, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Forlì and Cesena. As far as the territory is concerned, theEmilia Romagna it is divided into an area characterized by the reliefs of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and by Po Valley, so fertile and sweet.

The landscape is very particular delta of the Po which, with its seven branches, launches into the Adriatic Sea; the coast enjoys a milder climate, while the inland areas experience particularly harsh winters with frost and fog, and summers with high temperatures, with marked heat and sultriness.

Emilia Romagna has a very varied tourist offer, thanks to the many attractions of the Adriatic coast - come on Lidos of Comacchio a Catholic, Via Riccione, Rimini, Cesenatico, Gatteo Mare and so on – to the renowned spa establishments (it will be enough to just remember Salsomaggiore e Tabian, Cervia,Salvarola of Sassuolo), to the cities of art and the nature of the Apennines.

Do not miss: Emilia-Romagna, the best itineraries

Actually the stretch that goes from Ferrara a Piacenza is famously called Emilia, while the remaining eastern side of the region is called Romagna. To better understand, an example is sufficient: Bologna it is in Emilia and Rimini in Romagna. This, however, is not linked to the mere administrative aspect.

You cannot even resist a gastronomic tour in Emilia Romagna, a land of delicious cured meats and cheeses, headed by the Parma's ham, the mortadella and the Parmesan cheese. Emilia Romagna is a land rich in typical production with many branded products. But it is also a land of good wines, from still ones to the more lively and sparkling ones.

Between entertainment, art and natural landscapes, Emilia Romagna owes a lot to the tourism sector which knows how to repay tourists and visitors who choose the region for holidays and weekends.
