The measure concerns both air and land travel but attention remains high: entry into the country is only allowed to those who have received two doses of a vaccine that has been approved by the FDA and, even in that case, it is asked to also show a negative test.

Exponential growth in searches

Despite the rigidity of the guidelines of Biden decree, the news had a strong impact on the world of travel, so much so that the official announcement from the American authorities was enough to explode searches for flights: on September 20, in fact, travelers from all over the world started looking again flights for US airports and within 24 hours searches increased by 112%. This sudden peak in demand lasted for three days, only to then decrease while maintaining significant values. In fact, demand pressure remained very high and the search trend increased significantly: after the announcement, searches continued to increase at an average daily rate of +2,9%.

Europe is the first market: United Kingdom, Spain and Italy at the forefront

It seems, therefore, that US incoming is experiencing a moment of real growth, confirmed by a certain stability in search trends. The most active market for USA it is first of all the domestic one, which absorbs 39,3% of the demand: a predictable figure considering the geographical vastness of the country and the Americans' habit of traveling by plane. But considering incoming tourism, the first market is certainly Europe: UK, Spain and Italy are the countries with the strongest travel intentions and represent, together, 21,1% of all demand. Notably absent, however, are the Chinese and Russians: as is happening in Europe, these important markets are blocked from recognizing the vaccine, given that both the EMA and the FDA recognize only three (Moderna, Pfitzer and J&J) .

New York and Miami the most sought after

Most of the user searches are aimed at the East Coast: the area of New York, which also includes JFK and Newark airports, is the one with the highest number of searches (23%); while for Florida the share is 10%. As for the West Coast, the mete most desired are Miami (9%), Los Angeles (8%), San Francisco (4%), and Las Vegas (4%).
