The knowledge of the instrumental material, which characterized the astronomical research of this Institute in the last century, is of great importance for a historical-scientific reconstruction of the observation and research activity carried out by the OACT, for studies concerning the technical and theoreticians of this instrumentation, for the level of skills and the role played in the development of knowledge by the optical and mechanical technicians who designed and built astronomical telescopes and other high-quality observation and measurement instruments.
The instruments have been restored and catalogued, with the aim of making systematic research, identification and study possible. The historical-instrumental material, appropriately arranged and illustrated, complete the educational journey and testify to the evolution of astronomy and astrophysics in this century, parallel to the history of the "Vincenzo Cerulli" Astronomical Observatory which continues to successfully contribute to the development of this ancient science and the technological advancement that it requires. The museum collection is arranged in a small museum in the Observatory premises, where it is possible to admire it with guided tours by the staff.
