The now well-known and always enchanting ones were lit Luci d'artista 2013 in Salerno: here are this year's news and the main theme. The Christmas atmosphere returns to Salerno, despite the weather which this year is proving to be rather sunny and generous. In fact, the splendid ones have already been inaugurated Luci d'artista 2013 in Salerno, an attraction that is increasingly appreciated and awaited not only by the inhabitants of the city themselves but by the increasingly numerous tourists who visit Salerno from year to year for this very reason.
This year's theme is "Spring snow. Flowers, stars and myth“: focal point will be as always Flavio Gioia Square with the light installation of a particular and unprecedented reinterpretation of the Spring by Botticelli.
Along the main street, the streets of the old part and until you reach the Villa Comunale, it will be a riot of lights and creations that symbolize the emphasis of spring that breaks down the severity of winter.
There are two main ones news from Luci d'arte 2013 compared to past editions: first of all, you will notice the presence for the first time of alight installation on the Trieste seafront.
No creation had ever been positioned at this point and this year it was instead decided to include this walk in the route Artist's lights of Salerno. In particular we will find ourselves admiring the work "Antartide“, with the representation of penguins.
The second novelty is instead related to Villa: the play of light known as "The Enchanted Garden" has been created here for several years.
While continuing to maintain some of the old installations, from this year new figures will find their place to progressively transform the villa into a new setting, all based on the theme of the depths of the seas and oceans. Luminarie Salerno: Artist's Lights 2012
The glittering appointment with “Luci d'Artista“: on the occasion of Christmas 2012, Salerno It is colored with wonderful lights as always. Here is the news and information on the new free shuttle service.
This year too, to await and color Christmas and the holidays, the Luci d'Artista in Salerno.
2012 sees some changes compared to last year's display: this year the city is illuminated by designs created by elves, dragons, flying carpets, fairy-tale and mythological characters. There is also the setting up with the "Enchanted Garden", inside the Villa Comunale; this year, however, we will notice the presence of references to the tradition of the Nordic sagas, as a starting point for the innovations of the current edition.
The twinning with the city of Stockholm is also underlined by the presence of Christmas trees and the creation of the ice forest. There are also references to the East, with the installation of lights in the imaginative shapes of dragons and lanterns.
This year the municipal administration also established a free shuttle service, in order to be able to offer connections to those arriving from outside precisely to visit the Luci d'Artista: the terminus to take into consideration are the Arechi Stadium (in front of the Grandstand) and via Ligea in front of the Kiosk.

Illuminations Salerno Luci d'Artista 2010
Part of it Artist Lights 2010 a Salerno, the show of lights lights that color the city streets. Not simple party lights but open-air works of art with a specific theme. This year's claim is “Stars and Planets and the enchanted garden“: against the background of this inspiration the current ones were born Luci d'artista in Salerno which came to life in the sky of the Campania city on November 5th. Until mid-January, this fascinating exhibition of luminous works of art will characterize the route that goes from the Villa Comunale - where the inauguration ceremony took place - to Piazza Flavio Gioia, passing through the eastern area of Salerno and Portanova.
Many mythological figures created for Luci d'Artista 2010 even if the planets and stars are the masters this year: in particular, after crossing a Corso Vittorio Emanuele embellished with satellites and nebulae, you access Flavio Gioia Square, which houses an impressive solar system, surrounded by the Milky Way, arranged all around.
Another interesting point to spend time upside down is Via Diaz, where the constellations are arranged. It is easy to identify the various stars and astrological symbols.
A fascinating and unmissable route, to admire and let yourself be guided during a walk in Salerno, perhaps on the occasion of the Immaculate Conception: between a visit to the Amalfi Coast and an evening under the light of the Luci d'artista 2010 in Salerno, it will feel a little “stars sons".

“LOVE MAKES NO NOISE” by Domenico Luca Pannoli (via Porto-Molo Manfredi)
He was born in Turin in 1967. He graduated in '92 from the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Turin. In '94 he founded the Ondesign studio, dealing with planning and research in the field of architecture, design and communication.
All the usual urban signs are modified by the intervention of the artist who suspends his lively neo-pop signs in the air which praise love and solidarity. Thus the sign of a “Tobacco. Revenue stamps." He becomes the sign of “Tolerance. Universal value.”
“VOLO SU…” by Francesco Casorati, via Diaz, via GVQuaranta, via Manzo
He was born in 1934 in Turin, where he lives and works. In his paintings, a metaphysical and fairy-tale figuration prevails, with neo-symbolist elements of often autobiographical reference.
In this magical dimension the artist introduces us to a mythical and, as such, poetic "space". In “Volo su…” a flock of birds hovers above the street. Depicted with wings spread in stylized shapes, the birds hold up with their beaks a long red fluorescent thread, a thin neon tube which, as it unravels, marks the journey from one end to the other. Illuminations Salerno Luci d'Artista 2007
1 – “CHRISTMAS SAILS” by Vasco Are – Installation in Piazza Largo Prato – Rione Pastena
They are imaginary Christmas trees or maypoles but they also recall the lightness and flying of kites chased by the imagination of the little child that dwells in all of us.
These are shapes and fragments of plexiglas arranged in triangular wooden frames and built on hexagonal nets, which sway in the wind. The color of the plexiglass varies from red to yellow, from green to orange to blue, colors capable of brightly refracting the light projected from below.
2 – “SOLAR WIND“ by Luigi Nervo – Installation in Piazza Flavio Gioia – Center –
Solar Wind is a title born from the suggestion of a scientific expression that indicates the elementary particles emitted by the sun that hit the earth. The installation is dominated by a large solar silhouette, imagined in that fairy-tale style that often characterizes popular press and almanacs. The work thus transfers an astronomical concept into imaginary language, helping us to rediscover the primordial relationship with nature and light.
3 – “PALOMAR” by Giulio Paolini – Installation on Corso Vittorio Emanuele – Center
At the top of Mount Palomar (California, USA) there is the largest astronomical observatory in the world. The work was conceived, then, as an ancient astronomical atlas dotted with planets inscribed in geometric shapes and culminating in the silhouette of a balanced acrobat on a circle. Giulio Paolini's installation is dedicated to the relationship between the unknown and knowledge, but above all to observation as a determining and exciting moment of discovered knowledge.
4 – “WE” by Luigi Stoisa - Installation via Diaz – center
The body and the human figure are frequent images in Luigi Stoisa's works as is the use of luminous silhouettes. This is confirmed by the gigantic silhouettes that make up the work “We”. They are serial figures of men and women, inclined to compose a sequence of suspended arches, 8 meters wide, with their heads interpenetrating at the top of each "arch". The silhouettes are drawn in red fluorescent tubes, in an enfilade conceived as a long tunnel, a luminous and protective path.
5 – “MOSAICO” by Enrica Borghi – Installation via Mercanti – via Duomo
It is an original work commissioned by the Municipality of Salerno for the first edition of Luci di Notte. It arises from the deep bond immediately born between the artist and the oldest part of the city.
Enrica Borghi, walking through the narrow streets of the historic city centre, was struck by the particular architecture of the buildings which offer the vertical development of the gaze. These are the streets of the Ancient Medical School, among the first medical universities in the world where research for the fiscal and spiritual well-being of man was very high.
The Cathedral where the remains of the Evangelist Matthew rest, with its high bell tower, underlines this upward direction.
The flooring of the Cathedral, a vestige of the capital of the Norman Kingdom, inspired Enrica Borghi in the development of a work conceived as a precious Byzantine mosaic to be installed along the walls of the buildings.
The Via dei Mercanti, opulent with commerce and vitality, together with the climb that leads to the Mother Church become the stage for a mosaic of moving emotion. (source: Municipality of Salerno)
