The museum is located within the archaeological park of the Roman amphitheatre, built in the area that housed the municipal stadium until twenty years ago. The new institution, inaugurated on 1 November 20011, displays the archaeological materials and documents useful for the reconstruction of the birth and development of the city of Chieti.
The building, with its discreet and modern architecture, constitutes a stimulus to urban redevelopment and an opportunity for cultural development in the heart of the old city.
The display enhances the material on display through highly effective multimedia stations and educational panels; the exhibition rooms are characterized by a modern concept layout.
Thanks to a refined use of sounds and music, projected images and lights, reconstructions, the La Civitella Museum offers the visitor a unique experience. evocative and unforgettable, involving body and mind at the same time.
The scientific path offers three different approaches that can be developed in a single visit:
The beginning of urban history From Rome to Yesterday
